Oregon Sues Monsanto For Knowingly Selling Toxic PCBs

By John Vibes, The Mind Unleashed

This week, the state of Oregon filed a lawsuit against the controversial biotech and chemical company Monsanto. The lawsuit stated that Monsanto knew that many of its products were toxic but kept the information from the public for decades and continued selling them anyway. The lawsuit is seeking a minimum of $100 million in damages that the state incurred from cleanup and medical costs.

The chemical that is at the center of this specific lawsuit is called polychlorinated biphenyls, otherwise known as PCBs. The chemical is resistant to fire and used in paint products, electronic devices, and mechanical oils. The chemical was banned in 1979 due to its adverse effects on humans, animals, and the environment. Continue reading Oregon Sues Monsanto For Knowingly Selling Toxic PCBs

Guess Who Edited the “Independent” Reviews That Say Monsanto’s Roundup Is NOT Carcinogenic?

By Daisy Luther, Natural Blaze

New reviews have shown that Monsanto’s Roundup is not carcinogenic. The weed killer is perfectly safe, despite the World Health Organizations proclamation in 2015 that glyphosate, the primary ingredient in Roundup, was “probably” carcinogenic.

This proclamation was met with outrage from Monsanto and a series of “independent” reviews that all agreed that the World Health Organization was wrong.

Of course, Monsanto secretly edited the studies. Continue reading Guess Who Edited the “Independent” Reviews That Say Monsanto’s Roundup Is NOT Carcinogenic?

Monsanto Chemical May Leave Orca Pod “Doomed to Extinction”

By Carey Wedler, Natural Blaze

An orca whale that washed up on the coast of Scotland last year was poisoned by environmental pollutants, according to a report released last week.

The Guardian reported last Tuesday that Lulu, the full-grown whale who died, “was a member of the UK’s last resident pod and a postmortem also showed she had never produced a calf. The pollutants, called PCBs, are known to cause infertility and these latest findings add to strong evidence that the pod is doomed to extinction.”

The levels of PCBs, or polychlorinated biphenyls, found in Lulu’s blubber were “more than 100 times the 9mg/kg limit above which damage to the health of marine mammals is known to occur” the Guardian noted. Lulu had 950mg/kg in her blubber. The average orca in the North-Atlantic ocean has 150mg/kg. Continue reading Monsanto Chemical May Leave Orca Pod “Doomed to Extinction”

Monsanto Hired Paid Internet Trolls to Counter Bad Public Image, Lawsuit Claims

By Carey Wedler, Natural Blaze

Agrochemical giant Monsanto hired Internet trolls to combat negative perceptions about their brand on social media and across the Internet, according to a lawsuit filed by U.S. Right to Know, a nonprofit organization “working for transparency and accountability” in the American food system. The company has also been accused of manufacturing scientific research to support their products.

The allegations come amid 50 lawsuits, filed in a U.S. district court in San Francisco, that claim “exposure to Roundup herbicide caused them or their loved ones to develop non-Hodgkin lymphoma, and that Monsanto covered up the risks,” as summarized by U.S. Right to Know in a press release. Monsanto – World Leader in the Promotion of Infertility

By Dr. Mercola, Waking Times

Monsanto has a long and infamous history of manufacturing and bringing to market such chemicals as DDT, Agent Orange, aspartame, Roundup and dioxin1 — chemical compounds from which society continues to feel the effects.

In an effort to distance the current corporation from past deeds, Monsanto refers to the company prior to 2002 as “the former Monsanto” in their news releases.2However, nothing has really changed aside from their PR machine. Continue reading Monsanto – World Leader in the Promotion of Infertility

Why the Government Refuses to Turn Against Monsanto

By Dr. Mercola, Waking Times

In the video below, Funny or Die pokes fun at Monsanto’s “feeding the world” message by highlighting some of the most obvious features of genetically engineered (GE) foods, such as the unnatural crossing of genetic material between plant and animal kingdoms, the use of toxic chemicals and Monsanto’s ever-expanding monopoly.

“I own everything!” Mama Monsanto exclaims, and that’s pretty close to the truth. Monsanto has gobbled up seed companies, chemical competitors and even research institutions investigating the impact of pesticides on bee die-offs. Continue reading Why the Government Refuses to Turn Against Monsanto

Regulatory Loophole Allows GMO Products to be Marketed as Non-GMO

By Julie Fidler, Natural Society

The government isn’t particularly interested in making sure Americans know what they’re eating. It seems like knowing what is in the food should be a basic right, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

In fact, last week Congress passed a federal requirement for labeling products containing genetically modified ingredients that signifies a big win for food companies.

The bill will require labels to be retooled or updated to show whether any ingredients had their natural DNA altered, but it will be years before the new labels are phased in, and food companies won’t be required to list specific information on their products. Monsanto Must Pay $46.5 Million in Damages in PCB-Lymphoma Case

gavel-court-judge-lawsuit-735-308

By Julie Fidler, Natural Society

Last week, a St. Louis Circuit Court jury awarded $46.5 million to 3 plaintiffs who alleged that PCBs made by Monsanto caused cancer. The plaintiffs alleged in the suit that Monsanto and the other defendants – Solutia, Pharmacia, and Pfizer – were negligent in their handling of PCBs.

PCB stands for polychlorinated biphenyls, a highly toxic and carcinogenic group of chemicals. Decades ago, PCBs were used in many different products, including electrical equipment, surface coatings, inks, adhesives, flame-retardants, and paints. Before morphing into the agritech giant it is today, Monsanto was the sole manufacturer of PCBs from 1935 to 1997. Continue reading Monsanto Must Pay $46.5 Million in Damages in PCB-Lymphoma Case
