Are you concerned about Genetically Modified Foods? Here’s (GMOs Revealed) a great documentary that addresses many of the questions and concerns most people have today.
In March 2014, scientists from Indiana University announced that they had conducted research to examine the operations of the fruit fly genome “in greater detail than ever before possible” and had identified “thousands of new genes, transcripts and proteins.” Their results indicated that the fly’s genome is “far more complex than previously suspected and suggests that the same will be true of the genomes of other higher organisms.” Of the approximately 1,500 new genes that were discovered, 536 of them were found within areas that were previously assumed to be gene-free zones. Furthermore, when the flies were subjected to stresses, small changes in expression level at thousands of genes occurred, and four newly modelled genes were expressed altogether differently. Beyond Pesticides (BP) and The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) today responded to a federal judge’s ruling against Monsanto Co.’s motion to dismiss the groups’ lawsuit, filed in April, 2017. A California Appellate Court sided with the State of California and Center for Food Safety (CFS) on Thursday, affirming that Monsanto’s glyphosate pesticide can be listed as a known carcinogen under Proposition 65.
Monsanto’s lawsuit challenged the 2015 announcement by California’s Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) that it intended to list glyphosate, the active ingredient in Monsanto’s herbicide, Roundup, under California’s landmark Proposition 65. After selling off enough assets to win anti-trust approval, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has approved a mega-merger between Monsanto and Bayer, two of the world’s leading chemical/biotech companies. Although polling has shown that over 90 percent of farmers are concerned about the merger, the DOJ and European Commission have given the green light for what is being called a “Merger from Hell.”
Not only will this merger result in less competition and reduced leverage for farmers, but it also paves the way for a de-facto corporate takeover of the emerging cannabis industry through patent-pending genetically modified seeds. A study conducted by the USGS comparing figures for air and rain samples from 1995 and 2007 in Mississippi concluded that 75% of all 2007 samples tested positive for glyphosate — the active ingredient in Monsanto’s best-selling herbicide Roundup.
That’s right…air samples.
Based on these figures, that means an 18-fold glyphosate use increase in Mississippi during that time period alone. Of course, this data is now seven years old, so who knows what the numbers are today, not to mention the fact that this is only looking at the state of Mississippi. Monsanto and human health have never had a good relationship. Despite having been involved in the creation and application of Agent Orange resulting in the deaths and lifelong crippling effects to many American and Vietnamese people and the environment, the corporation did not hang its head in shame but instead rose to become dominant over America’s food supply. Monsanto, the megalithic corporation responsible for Agent Orange and for inundating the planet with noxious PCBs for years with full knowledge the horrific damage the substances cause to the planet and its inhabitants, finds itself in hot water, again, thanks to a poorly-delivered smear campaign against organic, healthy food — that is, food growing from the ground unassisted by its chemical pesticides and herbicides.
Just as many advocates of untreated food have suspected, Monsanto was caught red-handed disguising its own anti-organic propaganda — dangerously misleading and false information warning of supposed damage wrought to the environment through non-chemical growing methods — as valid scientific opinion pieces in major news outlets whose audience reach comprises millions of readers. The Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin (VAVA) recently told Reuters that more than 4.8 million people in Vietnam have been exposed to the herbicide and over 3 million of them have been suffering from deadly diseases. Agent Orange was one of many herbicides used by the U.S. military as a weapon during the Vietnam war, and Monsanto was contracted by the government to manufacture it for the Department of Defence. According to Monsanto:
“The use of Agent Orange as a military herbicide in Vietnam continues to be an emotional subject for many people. Asian Affairs Specialist Michael Martin notes, ‘[a]t the time the herbicides were used, there was little consideration within the U.S. military about potential long-term environmental and health effects of the widespread use of Agent Orange in Vietnam.’” (source) Continue reading Agent Orange: Bone-Chilling Photos Of The War Crime The US Government Got Away With

New reports reveal devastating impacts on consumers and farmers.
WASHINGTON – Over 1 million petition signatures were delivered today by farming, consumer and environmental groups to the U.S. Department of Justice calling on the department to block the proposed merger of Bayer (BAYN) and Monsanto (MON). The signatures were delivered as two new reports revealed irreversible impacts from the merger on consumers and farmers. Continue reading Over 1 Million Call on DOJ to Block Bayer-Monsanto Merger

Responsible for genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and the pesticides that are sprayed on them, Monsanto is on the tips of everyone’s tongues lately. Health conscious individuals are doing everything they can to boycott this company and support others instead, even if that means opting for much pricier organic produce.
There are a number of reasons for their concern, including the fact that no long-term studies have been done to show the potential health effects of consuming genetically modified foods or the high levels of pesticides that came with them. The mere fact that this company is responsible for some of the worst chemicals ever created, including Agent Orange, DDT, asbestos, and aspartame, also contributes to this widespread mistrust.
