Spiritual Revolution: What Do We Want?

By Wes Annac, Culture of Awareness

I don’t know how any of you feel about our current time or how you want to contribute to this massive social/spiritual revolution, but personally, my goals are simple. I want to use creativity – writing, music and anything else that seems to provide a path into a higher consciousness – to help the world.

I want to give my perspective on the various important issues that are emerging in our society today, and I want to use the awesome power of spirit and what some people call the ‘higher self’ (though I don’t like to label it) to offer something that can hopefully help everyone.

I used to be interested in promoting certain beliefs, but these days, I just want to promote whatever helps me expand my consciousness and awareness. And I want to be able to do it with minimal judgment and condemnation toward others who don’t think the same way I do.

I think it’s healthy to be constructively critical of ideas or philosophies that don’t resonate with us, but what matters, in my view, is the level of respect we show their proponents, who are human beings (and spiritual beings) just like us.

This life wouldn’t be any fun if we all had the same beliefs and we all agreed with each other about everything, and not only are philosophical differences natural – they can actually propel us, as a collective, into a higher consciousness.

Some people have discovered what, to them, is an incredibly pure and helpful path back into their own expanded awareness.

It’s a path that frees them of any external belief systems, any reliance on a teacher to show the way or any need to vehemently defend themselves, which is different from explaining how their perspective on life or spirituality helps them. This is the path I want to take, and I intend to use its results to help others.

I used to have something to defend. I used to have a set of beliefs to argue about with people who didn’t feel the same way about life and spirituality, and I defended my beliefs with everything I had, all the while assuming that the people I fought were ‘asleep’.

Admittedly, my perspective still somewhat resembles the beliefs I used to defend. The difference now is that I have no desire to claim I’ve found the way or I know all the answers, because I haven’t and I don’t. I only know what I know and feel what I feel, and I’ll gladly express it in any article I write.

What we have right now are various interpretations about the spiritual nature of our existence and the ongoing social/spiritual revolution we’re believed to be experiencing, and personally, I couldn’t tell you whether or not any of these perspectives are valid because I just don’t know.

I don’t know if any guru will really connect you with God. I don’t know if a popular channeled source will help you find what you’re looking for. All I know, and I admit that this knowledge is somewhat shallow, is that something big is happening right now. Intuition, along with heart-centered consciousness, takes care of the rest.

Like Bob Marley said, “the old world is ending, [and] the new world is just beginning”. Sure, he was probably referring to the fall of the Babylonian empire and the repatriation of faithful Rastas back to Ethiopia, as opposed to some kind of massive, collective spiritual evolution, but his words resonate with me nonetheless.

I know something is happening, and I want to contribute to it in whatever ways inspire me. I want to write about subjects that are close to my heart, even if it means I have to do some soul searching to figure out what to write about.

I want to connect with my higher consciousness, and no matter how this connection or the work that results is interpreted (religious, new agey, etc.), I want to boldly express it without fear.

I want to put things out there that aren’t blindly accepted by the conscious community, but discussed and perhaps debated. I want to be open to constructive criticism, as long as it isn’t overly hateful or attached to some type of agenda on the part of obvious internet trolls.

I want to be more rational and discerning than I have been, while keeping the heart open to make sure I don’t fall into the deep recesses of the disconnected, ego-driven, arrogantly intellectual mind.

I want to be able to publicly or privately disagree with something that doesn’t resonate with me without appearing to have a personal bias against it or the people who bring it to my attention.

I want to be an absolutely free and liberated spiritual seeker who doesn’t let anyone, no matter how ‘exalted’ their status is, dictate how my evolution or my experience of life should be. I also want to be careful not to dictate how others should live their lives.

While I’m starting to agree with people, like the late Terence McKenna, who think that nobody truly knows what’s happening on this planet, I want to jive with people who are attached to certain belief systems or just think differently than me.

I want to continue to connect with all of you who found your way to my channelings back in 2011, 2012 and 2013 or found your way to my writings in more recent years.

I want you all to feel comfortable in my little corner of the conscious community, and I don’t want anyone to feel like they don’t have a place or a voice here, because regardless of your beliefs, you do. You’re just as important to this conscious revolution as anyone else, and I want to hear your unique perspective on what’s taking place.

I want to connect with people who consider themselves ‘new agers’. I want to connect with people who believe in gurus who can help show the way to enlightenment.

I want to connect with the spiritually scientific types who are just open-minded enough to consider new concepts and just sensible enough not to fall too far down the philosophical rabbit hole without proving – if not to society, then to themselves – that they have a solid reason to take the plunge.

I want to invite everyone to be a part of this amazing movement, and I don’t want anyone to feel left out.

I’ve said since day one that if every part of the conscious community could tear down the philosophical barriers that seem to divide us, we could band together and achieve a lot. I’m not suggesting we all conform to the same ideology or the same perspective, because then, we’d be a community of conformists.

I’m sure that’s the last thing any of us want.

I’m suggesting that we recognize and accept the fact that every member of the conscious community thinks differently, and from there, we can healthily debate our various perspectives without degrading those with different viewpoints.

I’ve been saying for a while that I think the widespread condemnation of the ‘new age’ community is disheartening, and it’s not just because I used to channel or I feel like I have something to defend.

While I understand where this condemnation comes from – the sense that spirituality is becoming cartoonish or being turned into something less than what it can really be – I still think we hurt our community as a whole when we condemn others.

In my view, we can offer constructive criticism about concepts we don’t believe in, without condemning the people who do believe them or making them feel naïve because of their views on life. That only divides us, and we don’t need division – we need unity. But I digress.

More than anything, I want to embrace this extremely personal journey back into a higher consciousness. I want to flow right through any fear that presents itself, and I want to be able to creatively flow without relying on anything to produce or strengthen that flow.

This is life. This is love. This is spiritual evolution at its finest. I’m honored to join you all on this journey, no matter how you define it or what you choose to believe and empower along the way, and I hope you’re all as enthusiastic about this collective leap into a new existence as I am.

I’m getting more and more excited by the day, and it’s because I have so many wonderful friends, colleagues and fellow seekers to go on this adventure with me. I don’t know most of you in person, but I might as well because our connections transcend physical space.

We’re all family, and we’re slowly waking up to this fact as we come together to determine how we can soar through this shift hand-in-hand. Now’s a better time than ever to get moving, so let’s each stay active in whatever way works for us – creativity, meditation, ‘lightwork’ or anything else that helps us.

Our work is more important in the grand scheme of things than we can possibly imagine, so let’s embrace it along with the unitive community we’ve inadvertently created. Only we can determine our path back home as individuals, but as a collective, we can love, support and nurture each other every step of the way.
