A Simple Personal Philosophy

Despite some of the complex spiritual material I write about, my philosophy on life and spirituality is simple. I think we should all just live, love and learn to come together without fighting over our differences.

I think life would be a lot simpler if we could see beyond the differences we’ve convinced ourselves we should fight over, and the first step is to search for love and satisfaction not in our external reality, but in our hearts. Once we look deep within and find love for ourselves and the people around us, we can start working to make the world a better place. We can lead others by the example we set, and we can help them see that along with unity, an open, peaceful mind (and heart) really is possible.

I think we’d all benefit from a little exercise and meditation now and then, because it feels good to get the body moving and it feels better to get the spirit moving through it. I don’t try to force this outlook on anyone, but if you ask me about it, I’ll tell you all about how it’s benefitted me personally. In my opinion, a lot of the unnecessary violence and devastation we experience on a daily basis would be eradicated if the world were taught meditation, and instead of wanting to kill each other, we might start wanting to love each other.

I think the world would change in a heartbeat if everyone realized that they, as individuals and as a collective, can make a change. If we all realized that they key to transforming the world is to transform ourselves and emerge into the world to make a positive change (and we actually applied this realization), I think a complete societal reconstruction would be relatively easy.

It’d only be so easy because we’ll have made the personal changes that allowed us to take a serious look at how our society functions, and without a personal change on the part of each individual, our world will continue to function improperly. We’ll continue to divide ourselves based on the color of our skin, religious or sexual preferences and a seemingly endless list of other external differences, and we’ll fail to achieve any kind of unity until we realize that we’re responsible for creating it.

We have to unify the fractured aspects of our individual consciousness before we can try to bring the world together, because our inner division mirrors the outer division that prevents us from making a positive change. Our inner division creates our outer division, and to bring people together, we have to bring those parts of ourselves together. We have to understand true inner unity before we can try to unify the world, and it all starts with looking deep within and bringing as much of our inner love as we can up to the surface.

I think we should change how we see cannabis and other natural entheogens, and if we open our minds a little, we might discover that these substances aren’t the devils we’ve made them out to be. In fact, they may hold some of the keys to our physical and spiritual evolution, but we’ll never know until we erase the pointless, counterproductive stigma associated with them and actually give them a try. They won’t help everyone, but they might give some people exactly what they need to transform from within.

I think that with love, we’re infinite. Not nearly infinite; not somewhat infinite; completely, utterly infinite. If we have love, there’s nothing we can’t do – including finding peace and unity in our hearts before encouraging those qualities in the world. When we align with love, we align with an impressively potent wellspring of inspiration and creativity, and our inner love connects us with the peace and bliss of our higher consciousness.

Love is our direct connection with the Most High; our creator him/herself. It encourages us to step outside of the limited version of ourselves that’s maintained an unquestioned rule over us, and it motivates us to tackle new creative projects or expand our abilities in other ways.

I think that those of us who’ve accessed our hearts and become somewhat ‘conscious’ have a responsibility to a) be the change we want to see (to sound cliché) and b) advocate positive, heart-centered change in the world.

The conscious community is responsible for making some progress on this planet, and even if we strive for change our whole lives and the world seems relatively unaffected by the time we pass on, we’ll know we did our part and that’ll be enough for us.

If we were able to awaken even one person, then we did our job as well as we could.

This personal philosophy is relatively simple, and it’s quickly forming the foundation on which I live my life and contribute to humanity’s awakening. I’m not all the way there yet, but I’m learning what I think are the most important foundational lessons and I’m nearly ready to step it up a notch and work harder.

Feel free to live by your own philosophy on life, spirituality, creativity and anything else, because we have to walk our paths uniquely and we can’t live solely by the opinions or instructions of others. We have to find our own way, with love, openness and the willingness to tackle any challenges that present themselves, and the best way to do this just happens to be the best way to change ourselves and the world: Look in our hearts.
