Could this world, this existence as human beings on planet Earth, be some type of prison? I’m starting to get the feeling that Earth is some kind of lesson learning place, some kind of “hell,” a “time-out session” for bad children.
That doesn’t suggest that every single aspect of this existence is hellish, or that there isn’t beauty in life, but consider this.
If we just look at the most basic, inherent ways life on Earth functions, we might be able to notice a few things.
All organisms on Earth stay alive by nourishing themselves with food, or air, or water. Every organism, from humans to bacteria, is in a constant process of obtaining nourishment to stay alive. With no other worlds or planes of existence to compare this to, we don’t know if this is really “normal” or not.
But if you look at what we apparently know about human history, and the behavior of people now, from the social structures of poorer people to the elite people at the top of the hierarchy, it seems like we’re in a constant state of struggling for something: struggling for resources, food, power, fulfillment of some kind. On an individual level, people are always fiending for something. Then that behavior can be observed on a different scale with the more wealthy and powerful people in the world.
Why is it that we have to eat and breathe to stay alive? Consider how difficult it might have been to grow food, hunt or gather food, and find nourishment hundreds or thousands of years ago (it might have been easier than we know at times, but when it wasn’t easy): does that not tell us something about the very nature of this existence?
So that’s the first thing: why is this entire planet in a non-stop cycle of consumption? In many ways it’s beautiful, it’s not all evil, but it really is a world of organisms consuming organisms for nourishment. Maybe this isn’t how all planes of existence work.
Now let’s talk about human beings. Why does a baby behave the way they do? Why are human beings, from infants to adults, constantly seeking fulfillment? It seems that, from basic necessary nourishment to superficial forms of fulfillment, we’re always seeking something external. And when we go internal, and break the cycle of constantly searching for something outside ourselves for fulfillment, things start to fall into place.
It seems that certain behaviors in this life, such as letting go of rigidness, becoming humbled, or introspection, lead to what we could call “good luck,” and things in life fall into place serendipitously.
Maybe this world is some kind of time-out, for “bad children-souls.” Maybe the world seems so populated by people who are stubborn to not learn their lessons, people who are stagnant, because that’s a main theme here.
It’s hard to approach this concept without going into theories about past life and karma which may imply the belief that people who suffer in this world deserve what they get, but it might actually be this way. It’s easy for false idols and religions to say “if you do this, this will happen,” but there must be some kind of rule of karma taking place.
This “life is a prison” theory seeks to address the question “why are we here?”. There are other theories to address the question “where are we?”.
Where do we exist? Some believe we live in a kind of virtual reality simulation. Some believe astrology is a of piece of the code, a physical mechanism by which souls incarnate here (just to name one theory). Some believe numbers are a part of the code, and number synchronicities happen as a reminder of where we are. Those theories seek to answer the question “what is this existence.” But why do we exist, and why is Earth like this?
We may never be certain what this existence is, but what is more interesting than trying to figure it out?
